Abstract Mitigation is undeniably and necessarily linked with the social aspect of communication. No speaker mitigates an utterance without a goal in mind, which makes mitigation a means to an end and not an end in itself. espanolEl objetivo de este estudio es justificar la idoneidad de Gran Hermano como medio para el analisis del registro coloquial en aleman y espanol. Partiendo de la concepcion del registro como un continuo (Briz Gomez 2010), en las siguientes paginas examinamos un corpus bilingue inedito com-puesto por conversaciones en contextos cotidianos. This Master’s Thesis deals with the potentials of media in enhancing physical activities in the Western postmodern society in the light of a case study Dynamic Duo. Dynamic Duo was a media related campaign in the Finnish national broadcasting company YLE that was targeted in enhancing people’s physical activity. The aim of the thesis is to study in which ways the Dynamic Duo campaign possesses capacity in activating people and, what are the reasons of the participants to take part in the Dynamic Duo campaign.
